UK's HM Land Registry process now accepts electronic signatures and e-witnesses

Conveyancers are the front runners to adapt streamlined, technology-driven processes. One of the most important developments in the real estate industry is the adoption of electronic signatures, or e-signatures, in the HM Land Registry operations.
Implementing e-signatures for land registration helps conveyancers speed up the contract execution process by eliminating the cost involved with printing and maintaining executed contracts.

How can Zoho Sign help?

Zoho Sign allows conveyancers to electronically sign and witness agreements, sales deeds, and other documents. This solution is designed to help individuals adhere to the guidelines set forth by the HM Land Registry, offering advanced features such as the electronic addition of witnesses and secure signer authentication. From a legal standpoint, e-signatures and witness signing ensure a secure document signing process is in place.

Zoho Sign also offers advanced and qualified electronic signatures (AES and QES), which require an additional recipient authentication before issuing a certificate.

Witness signing

Conveyancers can now upload a document in Zoho Sign, input relevant details, and add up to two witnesses who can be specified by either the conveyancer or the signer.

Signer authentication

Zoho Sign lets conveyancers authenticate their signers in one of four authentication methods—email OTP, SMS OTP, EU eID methods, or offline OTP—which can be selected when sending documents to recipients, depending on the level of confidentiality.
